Most can agree that the furniture inside a home defines the whole theme and characteristics of the person living there. Keeping your home image clean may seem impossible, especially if you have kids or pets, but there are actions you can take in order to give your furniture a longer life span. Here are 6 tips from Hernandez Carpet Cleaning!
Check The Fabric!
What's the best way to resolve a problem? Avoiding it in the first place. Make sure your are purchasing the right fabric that will fit perfectly into your lifestyle and area of placement. For example, a black sofa near a window may begin to fade out due to the UV rays constantly hitting it. Always plan ahead before purchasing.
Don't Be Slow
It is extremely important how fast your reaction is for cleaning up spills. Although most new furniture come treated with soil and/or water repellents, ignoring the spill can cause a huge risk to getting the upholstery stained or damaged. Be fast but also be gentle!
Move Those Cushions
This is seriously as simple as it sounds, just move around the cushions. By doing so the cushions are being used evenly and it slows down the process of wear and tear. One area may be used more than others so keep rotating them to different positions.
Vacuum
Vacuum your furniture every week for a general cleaning and to remove surface soil. Doing so prevents dirt from becoming embedded into the furniture's fibers. Also, you may use a soft bristled brush to gently swipe the dirt away.
Air Pollution
Air pollutants from everyday life such as fumes from cooking or smoke can cause harm to your fabric. Of course it's not fully possible to prevent this but good ventilation can help, like with odor control as upholstered furniture can easily absorb odors.
Give Us A Call!
Here we recommend having a deep cleaning done at least once a year and to not wait for it to get visibly dirty. The more dirt that enters the fabric, the more difficult it'll be to restore the furniture. Contact us to schedule a cleaning for your furniture!
