Did you know that almost all Oriental rugs, as long as they are truly hand-made and made with quality, will increase in value over time. Our company knows the value that time brings as Hernandez has been in business for more than 15 years. In our book, experience means everything and one of the professional services that we provide is Oriental Rug Cleaning. Here are some tips on how to keep your oriental rugs clean at home...
With These Methods You Can Make Your Rug Last a Lifetime!
- Vacuum It is ideal to vacuum your rug at least once a week, that is if you're living alone. If you live with your kids, pets, etc, you should
definitely vacuum more often!
- No Shoes This is very self explanatory. No shoes = no dirt, no wearing out, and no stains.
- Just Beat It If it is small enough to carry, take it outside, hang it, beat the dust out of it every couple of weeks. A tennis racket or baseball bat could do the trick.
- Spice It Up Adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, dried thyme, rosemary or even lavender will give you a natural deodorizer. Mix these spices with a little baking soda for extra strength. After leaving the spices for a couple of minutes, vacuum it up.
- 6-12 Months Your rug will eventually need a deep cleaning. Every 6-12 months is the ideal cleaning schedule for an oriental rug. So bring your rug to the experts at Hernandez Carpet Cleaning and keep it fresh for the next generation to see.
Check if You Need a Cleaning!
- Pick up a corner of the rug and while holding it and kick the back of the rug with your foot pointed. If a cloud of dirt flies out of the rug, the rug is dirty.
- Kneel down on the rug and rub the pile with your hand for 5 to 10 seconds. Look at your fingers and palm, if your hand is dirty so is the rug.
- Eventually after a period of time, there is dirt deep in the pile where a home vacuum cleaner cannot reach it. Hernandez Carpet Cleaning can and will extract the dirt that is saturated in the rug.
