You may have heard that you should "wait as long as possible before cleaning your rug", or that "the rug is never the same after it is cleaned". These ideas are a result of unprofessional, unethical cleaners that used improper cleaning agents on the rug or fibers, resulting in rapid re-soiling, and spots returning. Manufacturers recommend professional cleaning at least every 12 months. Avoiding regular cleaning may actually cause a permanent damage to your rug or carpet!
Sometimes you may think when you are vacuuming your rugs that you are removing all of the dry soil and other particles. However, there is always more dry soil located deep on the bottom of the rug and it is also attached to the fibers. Hernandez Carpet Cleaning uses special equipment to remove all of these particles from these rugs.
The steps to follow a proper care for your oriental rugs are:
1. Rotation: To insure even wear, your rug should be rotated once a year. Depending on the traffic, the rotation may vary from six months to two years.
2. Vacuuming: Oriental rugs, like most carpeting, should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove dirt and restore life to the fibers. Be sure not to vacuum the fringe with your beater bar! Use the end of a vacuum hose from a canister vacuum.
3. Padding: A quality pad used under your rug helps protect it from dirt, wear, and slippage.
4. Professional Cleaning: In-plant pug cleaning is recommended for Oriental rugs and loose woven rugs. They should not be cleaned on location like wall-to-wall carpet. Hernandez Carpet Cleaning cares for the finest to the most basic rugs from around the world. Having your rug cleaned in our plant allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning, controlled drying, and the use of tools that are not available on location.
